Electronic communications products and services must comply with the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (EAA) since June 28, 2025.
This new Cullen research lists the competent national authorities in charge of enforcing the provisions of the EAA regarding electronic communications.
In most of the studied countries, the national telecoms regulator assumes the responsibility for accessibility of electronic communications services.
In Belgium, Poland, Portugal and Sweden, the telecoms NRA is also in charge of the compliance of electronic communications products. A dedicated authority looks after the compliance of emergency communications in Belgium and Sweden.
Our research also indicates the maximum level of fines applicable when providers fail to comply with the accessibility requirements set in the EAA.
