The DNA explained: addressing fragmented national approaches to spectrum 26 January 26 Emma O'Toole

The Digital Networks Act (DNA) foresees an expanded role for the EU in search of a single market for spectrum.

Among the main changes proposed are:

  • an EU-level spectrum strategy
  • unlimited licence duration by default
  • minimum licence duration extended from 20 to 40 years
  • spectrum sharing as the norm
  • EU-level harmonisation of spectrum pricing
  • EU-level scrutiny of national spectrum

Our new report offers an in-depth analysis of the European Commission’s spectrum ambitions.
