The European Electronic Communications Code (EECC) redefined the regulation of electronic communications in Europe. Member states had to transpose the EECC into national law by 21 December 2020, two years after entry into force. Research by Cullen International shows that about half of EU countries had completed this exercise as of end-2021.
Our EECC Trackers provide comprehensive insight into the main changes. They follow in detail the steps taken by the European Commission and BEREC to ensure a proper implementation of the EECC.
Cullen International has developed dedicated reports tracking the following topics:
- very high capacity networks – definition and co-investment
- market analysis, symmetric access, SMP and non-SMP remedies
- spectrum and small-cell deployment
- the redefinition of electronic communications services
- end-user protection
- universal service – scope, affordability and funding
- governance and BEREC
The Trackers clearly explain the main provisions of the EECC, as well the accompanying guidelines by BEREC and the implementing acts adopted by the Commission.
