Introduced in the US Senate last month, the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) would enhance children’s safety online by imposing a duty to prevent and mitigate certain harms to minors on any commercial software applications or electronic services that connect to the internet and that are used, or are reasonably likely to be used, by a minor.
This is unprecedented in US regulations. If enacted into law, KOSA would also require these platforms to implement several tools and safeguards to protect minors.
