The European Commission proposal for a common charger for portable electronic devices aims to improve consumer convenience by mandating the USB-C standard.

It would also lower the environmental impact of terminal equipment and stimulate a circular economy. It is linked to the Circular Economy Action Plan, that the Commission adopted in March 2020.
