This timeline outlines the milestones in the implementation of the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) until August 2027.
It includes:
- core application dates;
- obligations for the European Commission;
- obligations for EU member states; and
- obligations for providers of high-risk AI systems and general-purpose AI (GPAI) models.
The AI Act entered into force on 1 August 2024 and will be applicable as of 2 August 2026 with certain exceptions, as outlined in our timeline.
