The latest edition of Cullen International’s EU Timeline highlights the most important policy and regulatory developments foreseen at EU level in the digital sector until the end of 2024.
Looking further forward, a new European Commission under the leadership of Ursula von der Leyen will possibly take office in December 2024.
Ms Von der Leyen’s political guidelines for her second term (2024–2029) set out in very broad terms several actions that will be taken regarding digital issues, as summarised in the following table:
However, at the time of publication of this timeline, the commissioners designate have not been announced, and their “mission letters” have not been published.
Ms Von der Leyen said that she will also draw on Mario Draghi’s report on EU competitiveness, without providing further details at this stage.
