Cullen International has invited European Commission representatives, industry leaders, and open-source experts to discuss the regulatory framework and current status of data spaces, including deployment challenges, sector-specific examples, and the role of data spaces in supplying data for algorithm training.
Watch the recordingThe European 2020 strategy for data set the stage for the development and governance of common EU data spaces across several strategic sectors, such as mobility, manufacturing and energy.
Since then, the EU has advanced significantly in establishing an enabling legal framework, by adopting the Data Governance Act and the Data Act.
Data spaces are sector-specific or cross-sectoral interoperable frameworks for data sharing. Their aim is to establish a trustworthy and secure environment for making data available for access and reuse. Achieving this requires cross-sectoral data interoperability, with standards as a key enabler.
Cullen International has invited representatives of the European Commission, industry and the open-source community to discuss the current regulatory framework and the state of play of data spaces.
The event will also address the challenges for the deployment of data spaces and sector-specific examples. Furthermore, it will explore the role that data spaces could have in providing a steady supply of data to train algorithms, in line with the recommendations expressed in the Draghi report.
