With the entry into force of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on May 25, 2018, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) will replace the current Article 29 Working Party (WP29). Unlike WP29, the EDPB will have the capacity to adopt binding decisions. The EDPB will be assisted by a secretariat provided by the European Data Protection Supervisor.

Cullen International has invited Mrs Isabelle Vereecken - Acting Head of Sector (EDBP matters) at the European Data Protection Supervisor - to discuss the steps being taken to set up the EDPB secretariat, how the EDPB will differ from WP29 and whether national DPAs will be ready on time.
