The US Federal Communications Commission voted by a narrow majority to reinstate net neutrality rules repealed in 2017. The new rules will become effective during Q3 2024 but are likely to face court challenges and could be repealed again in the future.

EU member states approve the Gigabit Infrastructure Act (GIA)

The GIA will enter into force in the beginning of May 2024. It aims to be more effective than the Broadband Cost Reduction Directive it replaces. Most provisions will apply from end 2025.
