On 6 June 2018 the European Parliament and the Council reached a final agreement on the new EU directive that revises the existing Directive on Audiovisual Media Services.
Following their transposition into member states legislations, a new set of common content rules will be in place across member states for both audiovisual media services and (for the first time) video-sharing platforms.
Cullen International’s webinar provides an excellent opportunity for both industry players and regulators to understand changes and in particular how the new directive will:
- modify the application of some of the core principles of the existing directive;
- strengthen the rules that currently apply to all (linear and on-demand) audiovisual media services;
- impose new requirements on on-demand services while also relaxing (slightly) the rules that apply to linear broadcast services;
- cover for the first time video-sharing platforms.
