New benchmark on IP interconnection in Latin America

IP interconnection

Telecom operators are migrating from circuit switched networks (PSTN) towards Internet Protocol (IP) based packet switched core networks that carry voice, data and video. Converged networks reduce costs of network transport and management, and all traffic will likely be end-to-end IP in the near future.

Our research shows that there are few obligations to offer IP interconnection for fixed telephony in Latin America and that, where it exists, the obligation is usually on providers with significant market power.
