> Monitoring the telecommunications services sector and related
aspects in South East Europe
by Cullen International
This has been a three-year project that started in
2005 to assist the European Commission in monitoring progress the
South East European countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia (including Kosovo),
the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey) toward integration
of the EU internal market for telecommunications services. The project
has produced four nine-monthly country comparative reports intended
to:
- serve the information needs of the European Commission;
-
provide important
benchmark information for South East European country authorities,
to enable better-informed policy development decisions;
- provide
many key market and regulatory indicators for potential investors.
The reports include information on: overall macroeconomic
situation and overview of the electronic communications market,
legal and institutional framework, market access conditions, competitive
safeguards, universal service, retail and wholesale tariffs, Internet
and broadband penetration.
