The service monitors developments in media regulation in seven Western European countries: Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK.

It follows the implementation into national law of EU media-related directives as well as other relevant specific national initiatives.

Topics covered include: access to content, licensing and authorisations, radio spectrum, digital switchover, must-carry, set-to-boxes, media concentration, quotas and investment obligations, advertising, protection of minors, intellectual property rights (including levies and the fight against piracy), the right of reply and state aid.
