Latin America-EU
Symposium on ICT Regulation, European Parliament,
Brussels, November 15, 2010
|
|
The first annual Latin America-EU Symposium on ICT
Regulation provided "an intense regulatory debate with
the right people", according to one of the participants.
The event was organised by Cullen International in
association with EUBrasil and the Madariaga College
of Europe Foundation.
Speakers included communications regulators and key
ICT industry representatives from both Latin America
and the EU, including two distinguished keynote speakers
from the European Commission to open and close the event.
The debate compared the different regulatory approaches
in the EU and Latin America and explored the different
market situations, illustrating the need for more dialogue
and cooperation.
Among the topics discussed were EU and Latin American
broadband and NGA policies, private and public funding
for infrastructure development, the availability of
spectrum for LTE, consumer protection and net neutrality.
The presentations
are available online.
